Somali Women Development Association Inc. organises two festivals that is the community Led Annual Multicultural Eid festival Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha since 2009. These events are two of the most important events in Muslim calendar year.
It brings many diversity communities in Melbourne; Victoria and they share their cultures and experiences with harmony.
This event gets each year bigger and better as we listen the feedback from the participants children, parents and individuals surveys which allows us to improve each year the activities including rides, jumping castles, BBQ & food, arts & crafts, children activities, cultural music, partner agencies information tables display and showcase their activities and much more.
Somali Women Development Association Inc. is non-profit organisation which provides cultural appropriate support services including settlement programs, capacity building and community development programs to the Somali Australian Community and extended refugees and migrants from African Heritages. SWDA promotes positive change and social cohesion through programs such as employment services for African Australian Jobseekers, educational support Homework Club, Health Eating and Active Living programs, Mental Health support, Family Violence support, Coronavirus (COVID -19) Vaccination information platform to educate to the Somali Australian community, organises community led multicultural festivals/events and other general support to the children, youth, families, individuals, elders, and people with disabilities live in Victoria. Our assistance is targeted, compassionate, and delivered through strength-based, community collaboration and inclusion.
